Japanese Serie Wardrobe KU10 by Cees Braakman for Pastoe, 1950s

Very nice tall wardrobe KU10 from the famous Japanese series designed by Cees Braakman for Pastoe UMS, Holland, 1958. The wardrobe is made out of teak wood and has a black lacquered frame & black plastic minimalist handles. On the inside you will find a tie hanger and a rectangular mirror. The Wardrobe is in good condition with minor traces of use on wood. Cees Braakman trained at Pastoe (UMS), where he worked through all the departments. From 1949 until 1968, he designed most of the Pastoe models, which were usually part of a complete series of furniture & cabinets. During the fifties, Braakman was sent to America to study production processes and visited Herman Miller where he was inspired by the work of Charles and Ray Eames. He was among the first in the Netherlands to apply the new High Frequency pressing technique to make plywood.
