Mid-Century Modern Fruit Basket with Hand-Carved Wooden Fruit

Decorative Mid-Century Modern fruit basket featuring an elegant woven construction made from coated cord and line material in black, cream and mustard-yellow tones, raised on a sculptural starburst base. The basket is filled with a striking collection of hand-carved wooden fruit, including a pineapple, pears and other stylized forms finished in deep black. The combination of organic materials, graphic lines and sculptural carving perfectly reflects the playful and artistic design aesthetic of the 1950s and 1960s. Both decorative and highly collectible, this eye-catching ensemble makes a wonderful centrepiece for a dining table, sideboard or coffee table and complements mid-century, Scandinavian and eclectic interiors alike. Presented in very good vintage condition with a beautiful patina consistent with age and use.
